Anglesey Diamond is an Irish Draught Sport Horse bred by the Hendy Stud in Wales, UK and owned by Elwyn and Jen Lloyd. The most satisfying aspect of this athletic horse must be that not only is he home bred but is also ridden by the Lloyd`s son Tom on the International Circuit. He is going from strength to strength and a great credit to them. He has style, looks and a great temperament.
A handsome horse by Diamond Jake RID who was sired by the great King of Diamonds: out of Sophistication a TB by the French TB Morston a Derby Winner he is proving that performance breeding works yet again.
In 2002 he had a very successful show jumping circuit in Europe. He jumped on the National Circuits and Grand Prix competitions in Norway and Estonia. This young horse jumped at The World Cup Show in Helsinki, Finland for Great Britain in the Helsinki International Class and another Classic Class. They were in the company of many International riders such as Hugo Simon, Lesley McNaught etc. He jumped clear with only one fence down in the jump off. Elwyn & Jen must have been so proud of him that day.
At the moment he is based in Norway with Tom Lloyd, and on March 6th this year began touring the big outdoor shows around Norway. They have been placed quite a few times and at the end of May they were in Competition with the Norwegian International Team they came 3rd on one day and then Won the 1.40m class on the next day.
He then competed in May at Bergen International Horse Show along with many European Riders and came 3rd in his class.
The Nations Cup held in Oslo at the end of June and Tom Lloyd and “Izzy”, as Anglesey Diamond is known, had received an invitation to represent Great Britain as an individual rider. We await news and photos for next months` news of this great British Bred ID Sport Horse….yet again King of Diamonds RID is showing how influential a sire he was.
