2000 Olympics Australia, though their jockeys often don't know what they ride, often incorrectly identifying them as Irish Thoroughbreds, the cross of an Irish Draught with a thoroughbred once again proved that Irish Sport Horses are one of the top sport horse breeds in the world. The gold medal winner is by the Thoroughbred Stallion Bassompierre and is out of a mare by the Irish Draught Stallion Ben Purple. Custom Made is closely related to America's Irish Draught Stallion O'Leary's Irish Diamond. Irish is by Glidawn Diamond by King of Diamonds. His dam is Kildalton Countess by Ben Purple.
The very fast Custom Made also dispels the argument that the best cross country horse is a combination of 1/8 Draught and 7/8 Thoroughbred. Custom Made, a 1/4 Draught 3/4 Thoroughbred, proved the Draught influence creates a great mind. Custom made had the best dressage score ever given to an Olympic three day competitor. He was also flawless in his cross country course having no problem with the time element. Another aspect of this cross breeding is very apparent the cross is a breed known for staying sound. Custom Made is a 15-year-old gelding. Though his jockey wouldn't be classified a world class show jumping rider, Custom Made helped him preserve the gold in show jumping phase of the competition. The Jockey on Custom Made also won a team medal with the Irish Sport Horse Giltedge.
